Many dream of winning the jackpot but few can imagine hitting three big prizes on the same day. Surprisingly, this is exactly what happened to a lucky Caesars player in Las Vegas.

The player in question was visiting the Caesars Palace venue Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. As reported, the lucky player turned his stay into a $667,750 payday after hitting three big prizes in the span of several hours.

According to Caesars, the anonymous player’s first win came at around 9:30 pm. The player won $125,000 playing Aristocrat Gaming’s Dragon Link slot. Instead of taking his prize home, the player remained around and later won another $383,500 playing on a similar machine. The second win, according to reports, came a bit before 11 pm. The player, however, still hadn’t gotten enough and, at around 12:30 am found himself winning another $159,250.

Reports say that the player won each of the big prizes via $25 bets. Although the player won a total of $667,750, the sum he took home was likely smaller because of casino taxes.

Caesar Entertainment did not release further statements on the matter.

The Caesars Palace Guest Was Not the Only Lucky Player

Earlier this month, another Caesars player, this time playing online from New Jersey, hit a $440,000 jackpot. This was notably the largest prize won on Caesars Palace Online Casino to date.

In other news, several more players won prizes of $1 million after failing to match the Powerball. Had one of them guessed all numbers correctly, they would have been in for a payday of almost a billion dollars.

As a result, the jackpot has risen to $975 million for the next drawing with a cash value of $471.7 million.

Elsewhere, a French couple just won the €73 million EuroMillions jackpot. In Michigan, on the other hand, a woman took home some $791,957 after spending a small lottery win on an additional ticket.

Mk Ssports-Full House Resorts’ Waukegan Casino Still Blocked by Lawsuit

According to attorney Stewart Weiss, the court should reach a decision by the end of 2024

Full House's American Place casino Image Source: Full House Resorts

Last year, Full House Resorts inched closer to turning its American Place casino in Waukegan into reality. Now, the company awaits the Illinois Supreme Court’s final decision.

Previously, the company secured a positive recommendation from the Waukegan Planning and Zoning Commission to the City Council. This doesn’t mean there wasn’t trouble, however, as previously a lawsuit against the City of Waukegan and the Illinois Gaming Board by Forest County Potawatomi Community tried to prevent Full House Resorts from getting a license.

In 2021, the case was dismissed, providing the casino developer with the green light it needed. The company’s triumph, however, was short-lived as last year, the Illinois First District Appellate Court reversed the dismissal, forcing Full House to put its plans on hold once again.

The company is currently involved in a third-party lawsuit and cannot proceed with the beginning of its construction work for as long as the litigation over the license persists. According to attorney Stewart Weiss, the court should reach a decision by the end of 2024.

Full House Resorts Is Optimistic about the Lawsuit’s Result

Full House Resorts’ goal is to create a luxury resort that would attract customers from the Chicago area and bring economic stimulus to Lake County. According to the company and local leaders, the American Place casino would create many new jobs while providing guests with premium experiences.

The final property will boast a 5-star hotel with 20 suites, as well as a casino with some 100 gaming tables and 1,640 slots. Furthermore, American Place Waukegan will have a 1,500-seat entertainment venue. According to officials, the property “is for everybody,” not just for high rollers.

For reference, American Place’s president and CEO, Daniel Lee, expects the permanent property to open in 2027. He firmly believes that the ongoing lawsuit lacks merit and would be eventually dismissed, after which his team would need approximately two years to finalize the casino hotel. Lee is furthermore convinced that his team has the capacity to finance the construction.

Lake County officials and experts are looking forward to the finalization of the venue, arguing that it would be another attraction. Visit Lake County president Maureen Riedy praised the temporary property and expressed his enthusiasm about the permanent one.

Mk Ssports-Queens Councilman Throws Support Behind Multi

Representing the neighborhoods encompassing Flushing Meadow Park and Willets Point, Councilman Francisco Moya expressed wholehearted support for Mets owner Steve Cohen’s bold $8 billion casino project initiative, named \”Metropolitan Park”

In a move that could reshape the landscape of Queens, Councilman Francisco Moya has thrown his weight behind Mets owner Steve Cohen’s ambitious $8 billion plan to erect a sprawling casino complex adjacent to Citi Field.

Francisco Moya Endorses ‘Metropolitan Park’ Casino Plan, Lauding Benefits for Queens

Moya, representing the communities surrounding Flushing Meadow Park and Willets Point, voiced his enthusiastic endorsement of the project, dubbed “Metropolitan Park,” emphasizing its potential benefits for both Queens and New York City, reported The New York City Post. Referring to the proposed gaming center, hotel, and music venue, Moya stated that he believed that the project was in the best interest of both Queens and New York City.

The councilman’s endorsement marks a significant development for Cohen’s endeavor, which hinges on legislative approval to repurpose the land around Citi Field, currently designated as parkland.

However, not all political players are aligned with Moya’s stance. State Sen. Jessica Ramos, another key figure whose support is crucial for the project’s advancement, remains unconvinced. Ramos, critical of Cohen’s team’s lobbying tactics, has refrained from endorsing the initiative.

Moya, known for his fervent support of development projects, hailed the casino-entertainment complex as an “economic engine” that would attract visitors year-round, enhancing the fan experience for sports enthusiasts frequenting Citi Field and the USTA Tennis Center, as well as supporters of the New York City Football Club.

Cohen’s Casino Project Gains Advantage Amid Regulatory Delays and Political Support

Despite uncertainties surrounding regulatory approvals, industry insiders suggest that the delay in awarding new casino licenses in the New York City area until late 2025 could work in Cohen’s favor, affording him more time to consolidate support in Albany. Cohen’s purported amicable relations with Mayor Eric Adams and Gov. Kathy Hochul further bolster his position in the high-stakes casino competition.

Cohen’s project is just one among several ambitious proposals vying for a slice of the lucrative casino market in New York City. Competing ventures include proposals from prominent entities such as The Related Companies, Wynn, SL Green, Caesars, Roc Nation, and Thor Equities, among others, aiming to establish their foothold in strategic locations across the city.

As the debate over the future of Queens’ landscape intensifies, Moya’s endorsement underscores the complex interplay of politics, economics, and community interests shaping the trajectory of urban development in New York City. Whether Cohen’s vision for Metropolitan Park materializes into a reality remains contingent on navigating a web of regulatory hurdles and securing elusive political backing.

Mk Ssports-The Culinary Workers Union Charts Path for Growth in Las Vegas

The Culinary Workers Union Local 226 outlined expansion plans, potentially bringing in around 10,000 new members

Las Vegas, Nevada welcomes you. Image Source: Shutterstock.com

After successfully concluding 10 months of intense negotiations, the Culinary Workers Union Local 226 is setting its sights on aggressive growth in the Las Vegas region for 2024. The union has finalized contracts with various hospitality entities, including Caesars Entertainment, MGM Resorts International, and Wynn Resorts, covering nearly 50,000 non-gaming workers.

New Contracts Propel Expansion and Improved Conditions

One significant provision in these new contracts allows the union to organize nonunion restaurant workers within the properties, a move that has garnered support from many employees eager to improve their working conditions.

Jose de Jesus Zuniga, a cook at Alexxa’s within Paris Las Vegas, expressed his desire for union representation, citing better wages and improved healthcare benefits as primary motivations, reported The Nevada Independent.

Ted Pappageorge, secretary-treasurer of the Culinary Workers Union Local 226, highlighted plans for expansion, particularly targeting establishments such as Alexxa’s, Eataly at Park MGM, and Citizen’s at Mandalay Bay, potentially bringing in around 10,000 new members.

The union has already secured neutrality agreements with prominent venues like The Venetian, Fontainebleau Las Vegas, Sphere, and Formula One’s Grand Prix Plaza, indicating a significant step towards further growth.

The completion of the 2023 contracts, which saw a remarkable 32% salary increase over five years, marks a milestone for the union. Pappageorge emphasized that these agreements include vital provisions such as workload reductions, enhanced safety measures, and protections against technological advancements that could impact workers’ jobs.

Culinary Workers Forge Ahead Amidst Challenges in Las Vegas

Recent developments also include successful negotiations with previously nonunion giants like The Venetian and Fontainebleau Las Vegas, with agreements paving the way for potential union representation. Notably, The Venetian, historically resistant to unionization efforts, has seen a significant shift following a change in ownership and management.

Moreover, Culinary’s involvement in organizing concessions workers at Allegiant Stadium, backed by the NFL Players Association, underscores its commitment to expanding its influence across various sectors. Despite facing challenges with certain service providers, the union remains steadfast in its efforts to secure fair wages and benefits for all workers.

However, amidst these triumphs, the union continues to grapple with longstanding disputes, notably with Red Rock Resorts and its Station Casinos operating division. The ongoing standoff, now spanning over 25 years, reflects the enduring struggle between management and labor in the region.

As the Culinary Union embarks on its ambitious growth strategy, it not only seeks to improve the lives of thousands of workers but also aims to shape the economic and political landscape of Nevada.

Mk Ssports-Thailand Inches Closer to Casino Gaming, May Outrun Japan

While Japan is technically still ahead when it comes to casinos, Thailand could potentially beat it to the finish line

Thailand's official flag Image Source: Shutterstock.com

Thailand is inching closer to the launch of legal casino gaming as the recent casino legislation continues to make strides. The measure, which would allow for the construction of resorts featuring casinos, was passed by a landslide by Thailand’s House of Representatives last week.

Overall, 253 representatives out of 257 House members voted in favor of the legislation, demonstrating the overwhelming support for casino gaming. As a result, the measure will now be able to reach the national cabinet.

Under the measure, up to eight licenses could be issued to casino developers. If approved, this legislation could create many opportunities in the region.

Additionally, experts believe that Thailand’s potential casino framework will feature lower tax rates, making it more appealing to international casino companies. The proposed GGR tax is low at 17% while the framework itself is expected to be similar to Singapore’s model. Furthermore, Thai casino licenses are expected to have 20-year terms and possible renewals every five years.

Experts expect Thailand to require casino companies to invest no more than $2.5-$3.5 billion in the region.

Thailand Could Beat Japan to It

Some believe that Thailand’s quick legislative strides could help it launch its first casino before Japan does. For reference, MGM Resorts is currently working on an integrated resort in Osaka, which is expected to open in 2030.

While Japan is technically still ahead when it comes to casinos, Thailand’s legislative efficiency could potentially lead to quick legalization and the rapid creation of a regulatory framework. As a result, Thailand’s first casino resort could potentially open before MGM’s property in Osaka.

Analysts’ rosiest predictions say that the first Thai gambling property could open its doors in 2029, giving the country a head start.

In terms of economic benefits, the casino resorts are expected to attract many foreign tourists, turning Thailand into an alternative to Macau and Singapore. Experts say that casinos could lead to a 52% uptick in tourism spending.

In terms of potential bidders, Thailand is expected to attract many of the most influential casino companies in the world. MGM Resorts is certainly following the latest developments closely, as disclosed by CEO Bill Hornbuckle.

Mk Ssports-Study Reveals Massachusetts Casinos Fail to Fuel Problem Gambling Surge

Rachel Volberg, a research professor at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, spearheaded the study, which juxtaposed data gathered prior to and following the inauguration of three major casinos in the state

A recent study conducted by the University of Massachusetts Amherst reveals that the introduction of casinos in Massachusetts has not led to a surge in problem gambling, contrary to some expectations.

UMass Research Shows Slight Decrease in Problem Gambling

The findings, presented to the Massachusetts Gaming Commission, indicate that despite the proliferation of gambling opportunities, the prevalence of problem gambling remained relatively stable.

The study, led by Rachel Volberg, a research professor at UMass Amherst, compared data collected before and after the opening of three major casinos in the state. Surprisingly, the results showed that the rate of problem gambling actually decreased slightly from 2% in 2013 to 1.4% in 2021 among the adult population aged 18 and over.

Volberg highlighted the impact of COVID-19 on gambling behavior, noting that restrictions imposed during the pandemic reduced overall gambling activity. However, even before the pandemic, the study found no significant increase in problem gambling despite the establishment of new casinos.

Volberg explained that they had hypothesized that exposure to casinos in neighboring Connecticut might mitigate any potential rise in problem gambling. She added that it was reassuring to see their hypothesis confirmed.

At-Risk Gamblers’ Concerns Highlighted in UMass Study

The study also revealed a decline in out-of-state casino patronage, with only 10.2% of respondents in 2021 reporting gambling outside of Massachusetts, compared to 21.5% in 2013. This suggests that the casinos succeeded in keeping more gambling revenue within the state, as intended by the 2011 Expanded Gaming Act.

However, there are concerns regarding the financial impact on at-risk gamblers, who show signs of potential gambling problems but are not yet classified as problem gamblers. The study noted that the proportion of gambling expenditures coming from at-risk gamblers increased significantly, highlighting the need for early intervention and support mechanisms.

Jordan Maynard, interim chair of the Massachusetts Gaming Commission, emphasized the importance of raising awareness about available resources for problem gambling. The study found a significant gap in public awareness of support services, indicating a need for improved outreach efforts.

Despite the overall stable rates of problem gambling, public perception of the gambling industry in Massachusetts has shifted. More residents now believe that gambling is too widely available, with 67.5% expressing this concern in 2021 compared to just 15.6% in 2013.

The study, funded by the Massachusetts Gaming Commission, surveyed over 6,000 adults to provide a comprehensive analysis of gambling trends in the state. While the findings offer reassurance regarding problem gambling rates, they also underscore the importance of continued monitoring and proactive measures to address potential harms associated with gambling.

Mk Ssports-IPI Auctions Off Rolls

The sale aims to offset some of the company’s mounting expenses but raises further doubts about whether Saipan Casino will ever reopen

An auction in process Image Source: Shutterstock.com

Saipan’s troubled casino operator, Imperial Pacific International (IPI) LLC, is again making headlines as its assets go under the hammer in a new auction organized by the appointed receiver. This time, the spotlight falls on IPI’s prestigious collection of Rolls Royce cars and its famed Crystal Dragons. The online auction, facilitated by Clear Management Ltd, commenced on Monday, 18 March, following the recent sale of IPI’s high-end liquor.

Luxury Cars Are Looking for a New Owner

The first vehicle auction is scheduled to close on 11 April, with the Crystal Dragon auction concluding on 22 August. Interested parties can purchase 11 cars varying significantly in value. Two 2017 Rolls-Royce Ghosts with a starting bidding price of $23,000 mark the most intriguing opportunity, providing unparalleled comfort and luxury.

According to the auction website, the two vehicles are pristine and immaculately maintained, with just under 6,000 miles traveled for the more used car. Danny Ewing, Clear Management operations director and former IPI employee, commented on the matter for media outlet IAG, noting that the two Rolls-Royce Ghosts reflected Saipan Casino’s vision to match VIP destinations like Macau.

We expected strong interest in these from CNMI and Guam, but what has surprised us is the interest from the Philippines and mainland USA.

Danny Ewing, Clear Management operations director

The auction’s winner will likely have to pay a significant amount to transport the vehicles overseas, but a low enough purchase price could justify these expenses. Such cars appeal to collectors, VIPs, or establishments like luxury hotels that value prestige and comfort. Any would-be buyer will also purchase a piece of history, taking home a part of Saipan’s failed casino resort dream.

Connoisseurs Can Purchase a Unique Piece of Art

While the two Rolls-Royce are undoubtedly impressive, the two Crystal Dragons adorning the Saipan Casino foyer represent the auction’s primary highlight. The stunning crystal gem-studded sculpture spans over 60 meters, featuring two dragons fighting over a flaming pearl. 2.5 million Swarovski crystals make up the dragons’ scales, while a state-of-the-art lighting system allows the sculpture to change color almost instantly.

Designed by renowned manufacturer LASVIT, the Saipan Crystal Dragons have an initial bidding price of $100,000. Finding a fitting buyer for the sculpture could be significantly more challenging due to its price tag, transportation difficulties, and limited utility. However, Ewing revealed that several parties have already expressed interest, raising hopes that the Dragons can find a fitting home.

The Crystal Dragons are unique art pieces and deserve a 5-star setting. All discussions to date have been with potential buyers in the Middle East.

Danny Ewing, Clear Management operations director

Amidst these auctions, IPI finds itself embroiled in revocation hearings with the Commonwealth Casino Commission (CCC) regarding its Saipan casino license. As IPI navigates these challenges, the auction of its prized assets reflects a strategic move to mitigate financial pressures amid ongoing regulatory scrutiny. Whether the auction proceeds will alleviate IPI’s woes or serve as a temporary solution remains uncertain.

Mk Ssports-Swedish Influencers Under Fire for Illicit Online Casino Advertising on Twitch

Eight out of every ten well-known Swedish influencers on Twitch have been actively endorsing unlicensed casinos to their extensive viewership

It has come to light that a significant number of Swedish influencers on the video platform Twitch have been endorsing unlicensed online casinos, sparking concerns about the promotion of illegal gambling activities.

8 in 10 Swedish Influencers Promote Unlicensed Casinos

Following a thorough investigation conducted by Kulturnyheterna, the investigative arm of Sveriges Television AB (SVT), it was uncovered that eight out of ten prominent Swedish influencers on Twitch have been actively promoting unlicensed casinos to their vast audiences.

Over a period of six weeks, Kulturnyheterna meticulously reviewed the broadcasts of these influencers, revealing how they have been disseminating advertisements for unlicensed online casinos through extended live streams, urging hundreds of thousands of followers to engage in gambling activities.

The investigation further highlighted that these influencers collectively reach an audience of approximately half a million subscribers, predominantly comprising young males born in the 1990s and 2000s.

During their live streams, 60% of these influencers employed direct marketing tactics, including sharing links to unlicensed casinos in their profiles and broadcasts, as well as enticing followers with bonus incentives to create casino accounts.

According to Kulturnyheterna’s report, these influencers were observed actively encouraging their viewers to gamble, participating in gambling activities alongside their audience, and even involving viewers in decisions regarding wagers, thereby intensifying engagement in gambling-related content.

Swedish Gambling Regulator Takes Aim at Twitch

Twitch, owned by Amazon, has faced scrutiny over its role in facilitating these advertising infringements. Despite implementing community guidelines in 2022 to prohibit the promotion of gambling content, Twitch has seemingly struggled to curb such activities effectively.

Kulturnyheterna has submitted its findings on these advertising violations to Spelinspektionen, Sweden’s gambling regulator, emphasizing Twitch’s status as the primary platform for promoting unlicensed casinos.

Spelinspektionen, armed with enhanced enforcement powers granted by amendments to the Gambling Act of 2018, has recently taken decisive action against illegal online gambling operators. Last week, Spelinspektionen announced the prohibition of a network of skin online gambling websites, which were primarily promoted on platforms like Twitch and YouTube.

While Spelinspektionen has yet to comment on Kulturnyheterna’s investigation, it has reiterated that advertising unlicensed gambling is illegal under Swedish law. Violators risk facing severe repercussions, including business bans and potential police intervention.

Similar action was also taken in Norway. Norway’s Gambling Authority declared a zero-tolerance stance towards social media platforms promoting online gambling content, enforcing a blackout on gambling advertising except for state-owned monopolies. The actions by the authority included warnings issued to Schpell.com and other entities.

Playtech, a prominent gambling software firm, finds itself embroiled in a financial dispute with its largest client, Mexican gambling platform Caliplay.

Playtech Battles €122 Million Payment Dispute with Caliplay

According to Playtech, Caliplay has declined to settle its dues, amounting to a staggering €122 million ($131 million) in fees accumulated between 2023 and 2024.

The refusal to pay comes amidst a protracted legal battle between the two entities. Caliplay has sought to terminate its contractual obligations with Playtech, sparking a contentious legal tussle that has yet to reach a resolution. Despite the mounting financial strain, Playtech remains optimistic about recovering the outstanding funds through legal recourse, reported The Evening Standard.

The repercussions of Caliplay’s non-payment have reverberated through Playtech’s financial statements. Notably, the company reported a significant surge in profits for the fiscal year 2023, reaching €235.8 million ($253 million). This substantial increase in profits includes the unreceived fees from Caliplay, reflecting Playtech’s confidence in eventual reimbursement.

The company disclosed a revenue figure of €1.7 billion ($1.84 billion), reflecting a year-on-year growth of 7%. Conversely, EBITDA reached €406.5 million ($440.3 million), marking a 12% increase.

Mor Weizer, the CEO of Playtech, conveyed his unwavering confidence in the company’s resilience amid the ongoing challenges, stating that they remained confident in their ability to execute their strategy and to continue delivering value for their shareholders.

Playtech Faces Uncertain Future Amid Takeover Rumors and Legal Challenges

The situation has also fueled speculations surrounding Playtech’s future, with the company becoming a focal point of takeover discussions. Both its depressed share price relative to earnings and recent acquisition attempts on other industry players have intensified the speculation.

Weizer hinted at Playtech’s active involvement in potential acquisitions, emphasizing the company’s robust financial position with a substantial cash reserve.

However, industry analysts caution against overlooking the potential ramifications of the Caliplay dispute. Neil Shah, director of research at Edison Group, highlighted the significance of the impending trial in October, suggesting that an unfavorable outcome could inflict substantial financial losses on Playtech.

Despite the looming uncertainty, market sentiments remain somewhat buoyant, with Playtech shares experiencing a marginal uptick in recent trading sessions. Analysts at Jefferies remarked on the market’s apparent pessimism, underscoring the likelihood of a negotiated settlement and the importance of maintaining a constructive relationship with Caliplay.

As Playtech braces for the legal showdown in the coming months, the outcome of the dispute with Caliplay will undoubtedly shape the company’s financial trajectory and market standing in the foreseeable future.
